A family story

Galerie Marcelpoil passionately champions the excellence of twentieth-century decorative arts. Now located on rue de Seine, in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris, it previously occupied a space on rue de Miromesnil for more than twelve years. Over the years, the gallery has established itself as an international reference in French Art Deco furniture and modernist design, attracting collectors, decorators, architects and institutions from around the world.

Founded and directed by Alain Marcelpoil, a recognised expert in twentieth-century furniture and decorative arts, the gallery has been built on a constant standard of quality, authenticity and historical research. A member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts (C.N.E.) and an appointed expert at PAD Paris and BRAFA, his eye and professionalism have helped make the gallery an essential address.

The gallery presents a rigorous selection of furniture, lighting, ceramics and decorative objects created by the greatest names of French Art Deco and modernism. Among them are André Sornay, Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann, Jean Dunand, Pierre Chareau, Eugène Printz, Jean-Michel Frank, Marcel Coard and Claudius Linossier. Each work is chosen for the exceptional quality of its design, the excellence of its execution and its place in the history of the decorative arts.

Particular attention is paid to the work of André Sornay, a major figure of modern French furniture and a pioneer of innovative production techniques applied to cabinetmaking. Through in-depth research and the constitution of substantial archives, Galerie Marcelpoil plays an active part in the rediscovery and promotion of his work among private collectors, museums and international institutions.
