The artwork takes the form of a massive, geometric structure in raw bronze. It consists of an assembly of stacked angular blocks. The lower section is composed of irregular polygonal volumes that serve as a base for an imposing upper rectangular block. This main block is pierced by deep, straight-edged cavities. The title “Cumes” (Cumae) refers to the ancient city of the same name in Italy, famous for the Cave of the Sibyl, which resonates perfectly with the archaic, mysterious, and cavernous quality of this sculpture, evoking an archaeological relic.
