Armchair in solid and mahogany with brass nails. The wide geometric armrest panels are trimmed with Sornay's patented brass nailing (”cloutage”) and highlighted by decorative brass cabochons on the front face. The deep seat and angled high backrest, upholstered in a light textured fabric, fit seamlessly within the wooden framework.

André Sornay developed his first patent in 1932: the concept of “cloutage” that evokes aeroplane rivets. This new assembly technique involved attaching veneered panels onto a structure using small nails (“clous”). The alignment of these nails became both an element of decoration and a trademark. This patent led to the manufacture of limited series of furniture that remained financially accessible.

Pair of pedestal ashtrays in solid walnut with hollowed-out faces. Its upper part accommodates a removable brass receptacle integrated into the center of a square top. This piece has been created before the nails patent so before 1932.
