A set of four Art Deco "bridge" armchairs in ash with brass nails and brown leather. Each chair features solid ash side panels highlighting the natural wood grain, held at the top and base by rounded cylindrical wooden rods that serve as armrests and runners. The suspended seat and narrow backrest are upholstered in dark brown leather.
André Sornay developed his first patent in 1932: the concept of “cloutage” that evokes aeroplane rivets. This new assembly technique involved attaching veneered panels onto a structure using small nails (“clous”). The alignment of these nails became both an element of decoration and a trademark. This patent led to the manufacture of limited series of furniture that remained financially accessible.
