Pair of armless chairs featuring a tall vertical backrest in mahogany with brass nails, subtly flaring towards the top and punctuated at the base by four visible decorative brass nails. Upholstered in a light fabric, the seat rests elegantly on tapered amaranth legs.
André Sornay developed his first patent in 1932: the concept of “cloutage” that evokes aeroplane rivets. This new assembly technique involved attaching veneered panels onto a structure using small nails (“clous”). The alignment of these nails became both an element of decoration and a trademark. This patent led to the manufacture of limited series of furniture that remained financially accessible.
