This convertible unit combines a rolling bar and a gaming table crafted from studded thuja burr, studded walnut, and solid walnut. In its closed position, the compact framework houses four removable side tables/stools along its flanks as well as two sliding serving trays. Once fully deployed, the piece unfolds into a square-topped gaming table equipped with four corner-integrated ashtrays.

Unique piece.

In the years following World War I, the reorganization of housing made smaller living spaces a necessity and many designers developed modular furniture systems. These new constraints on space and construction stimulated Sornay’s ingeniousness. He started to design tailor-made or multifunctional furniture as early as 1925.
