This desk lamp features a geometric design highlighting a combination of rectangular and circular shapes. The open framework consists of a large rectangular walnut with brass nails frame supported by a low rectangular base in solid walnut. The two vertical uprights are flanked on the outer sides by raised circular disks. The upper section houses the light fixture, shielded by a horizontal rectangular panel of frosted glass secured by two lateral screws.

André Sornay developed his first patent in 1932: the concept of “cloutage” that evokes aeroplane rivets. This new assembly technique involved attaching veneered panels onto a structure using small nails (“clous”). The alignment of these nails became both an element of decoration and a trademark. This patent led to the manufacture of limited series of furniture that remained financially accessible.

Pair of pedestal ashtrays in solid walnut with hollowed-out faces. Its upper part accommodates a removable brass receptacle integrated into the center of a square top. This piece has been created before the nails patent so before 1932.
