A large square coffee table in solid mahogany and blue lacquer. The inset top, finished in a dark navy blue lacquer, is set within a mahogany frame structured with openwork double horizontal stretchers. The piece is raised on sleek, geometric corner legs.
André Sornay developed a rapid furniture assembly system, filing various patents for it between 1953 and 1955. This patent, known as the "tigette Sornay," proved to be revolutionary. This process laid the foundation for the entire flat-pack or "kit" furniture system used today. The assembly of the piece is limited to joining a front frame and a rear frame fitted with threaded inserts designed to receive the rods. The nuts are left visible on the front facade
