This 'bridge' armchair in solid mahogany and mahogany with brass nails features rigorous orthogonal lines, notably characterized by armrests that form a hollowed-out rectangular frame. Its architectural backrest displays a gently curved, slightly angled shape that flares upward while subtly detaching from the rear structure. The seat is upholstered in Toiles de Mayenne

André Sornay developed his first patent in 1932: the concept of “cloutage” that evokes aeroplane rivets. This new assembly technique involved attaching veneered panels onto a structure using small nails (“clous”). The alignment of these nails became both an element of decoration and a trademark. This patent led to the manufacture of limited series of furniture that remained financially accessible.
